Nature and Landscapes
126 imagesThis project was started in 2001 as a way to reinvent my personal artistic vision. I made natural landscape and nature abstractions of Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The majority of these images were made within the western and northwestern 1/3 of the entire lake's shoreline. Many of these photographs were later compiled into a book called "City Lake: Images of Lake Nokomis." This project is ongoing and will have new abstractions and landscapes images added to it frequently. Make sure to check out the Bird and Waterfowl Gallery for additional images from Lake Nokomis!
86 imagesLook closely at water and you will be immersed in a world controlled by the forces of nature, altered by temperature changes, but which, too, can dramatically alter its environment. It is powerful, still, mutable, turbulent, breakable, and noisy. It reflects, distorts and obscures. It can be divided, vaporized, frozen, sprayed, boiled, crystallized and yet can ultimately be returned to liquid. It can be calming, serene, terrifying, cleansing, slippery, and erosive. Water is the ultimate in paradox and contradiction, and yet the paradox of water rules our lives. This gallery contains water and ice abstractions, and water landscapes made in, on, and around Lake Nokomis. I have other water images located in the Photo Illustration and City Lake: Images of Lake Nokomis Galleries on this website.
